Collection of KYT (hazard prediction training) scenarios for home care nurses’ version of violence

KYT (hazard prediction training) in the medical field is training to anticipate possible medical accidents and how to avoid them, usually in situations using pictures or illustrations to protect patient safety.
The visiting nurse version of KYT for violence is training to anticipate possible risks of violence and avoid danger when the visiting nurse visits a patient’s home. This video is designed to be used for this training.

Collection of KYT (hazard prediction training) scenarios for home care nurses’ version of violence

Significance of violence hazard prediction training (KYT) in home care settings

(Journal of the Japanese Association for Home Health Care 2024, Vol. 5, No. 2, p. 19-26)
This paper summarizes the results of an actual training session using a collection of KYT situations of violence and a questionnaire administered two to four weeks later. Even though the training was a one-time event, it was shown to have the potential to change individuals’ perceptions about violence prevention.
However, many felt that more training was needed, and it was also found that there are issues that need to be addressed before an organized effort can be considered.

The relationship between violence against visiting nurses by service users and community collaboration of home nursing stations.

(Journal of the Japanese Academy of Nursing Science, 2018, Vol. 38, p. 346-355)
A mailed questionnaire survey was conducted among home nursing stations nationwide, and the results showed that the group with poor community collaboration had about 1.5 times more verbal violence and 1.7 times more sexual harassment users with the corresponding behavior than the group with good community collaboration. The results indicated that good community cooperation is important to prevent violence.
